Q: What did the money go toward last year?

A: Last year the Blackwell PTSA was able to provide in person community events, supplemental curriculum, recess supplies,  shorter basketball hoops, additional instruments for music classes, on-site field trips, Legos for coding kits, flexible seating, raised garden beds and planting kits, spirit fence cups, and curriculum resources such as engineering challenge supplies, science lab experiments, headphones, library support, 5th grade legacy project supplies, classroom games, and books to use with the new Illustrative math units. The PTSA also continues to provide academic classroom funds to all teachers and all monthly art docent supplies for 24+ classrooms, replenishing watercolor paper, oil pastels, paint, glaze, tools, clay, fused glass materials and more.

Q: Does my student get all the prizes before the one that they reached?

A: Yes. If your student raises $250 , they would receive the vinyl stickers, paw wristband, glow necklace, bookmark, pencil, and pin.

Q: What is the permission slip for?

A: All students are required to have a signed permission form whether they donate or not. Send in with your student to give to teacher or sign form online. We have a school wide goal and incentive. If we raise $40,000, we will add more “ Fun” to the Run for the students. This includes adding games and inflatable obstacle course equipment. To engage with the inflatable obstacle course options ( doesn’t mean your student has to do the obstacles, but it gives them the option to engage in the activity), we must have a permission slip on file. We are asking for all signatures by Nov 10th.

Q: Who does the envelope go to? And can I send in multiple checks?

A: Teachers collect envelopes daily and you can turn in any envelope at anytime during the week up until Nov 14.

Q: When will my student receive their prizes?

A: Our goal is to keep disruptions to a minimum during the week leading up to Fun Run. Prizes will be going home on November 7 and continuing up until the Fun Run. Prizes will not come home on the same day donations are made. Our reports cut off time is at 8pm the night prior to distribution and Wed is not a scheduled prize day as it is an early release day.

Q: I can help volunteer. How do I sign up?

A: This year our volunteers are working hard behind the scenes to make it as easy as possible on teachers, while still giving students a fun and spirited event ( without disruption to classroom learning).

Sign up here to volunteer your time!

Q: What if I want to donate but prefer my student not receive the prizes?

A: This year we’ve chosen prizes that we believe promote school spirit, but we can honor your request to remain anonymous even to your student if you prefer. Please email us at: waysandmeans@blackwellptsa.org and we can add those prizes to a student in need or even donate to your teacher.

Q: What if I already donated in September or October?

A: We will be honoring donations and applying to prizes. Please reach out to: waysandmeans@blackwellptsa.org

Q: Do I need to attend on November 14?

A: No. Students will be participating by grade level during the school day. We do ask that your student come prepared for the day with their water bottle, running shoes, and dress in layers. Each student will be given a Tshirt to wear over their school clothes. They can remove it after the run but it works best if they have at least a light weight shirt or Tshirt on underneath. Students are not required to run.
