About Math Club
Math Club is a fun and competitive activity. It is a great way for students to develop intuitive thinking skills and learn new math concepts. Students will not only learn new materials, but will apply their previous knowledge from school to fun and challenging problems. Further, participants will learn to view math not as a set of rules or guidelines, but as an art. Math is a subject full of creativity and opportunity that many students can enjoy. Besides the academic benefits, Math Club is also a great way to meet new people and develop teamwork skills.
Requirements
All registered students and families are expected to meet the following requirements:
- Behavior: All students are expected to be respectful, cooperative, and follow all school and Math Club rules.
- Commitment: All students are expected to make an extra effort to study math in addition to the weekly club meetings.
- Volunteering: The club is a 100% volunteer-run organization. Parent involvement is required to support kids' math studies at home, such as checking Math Club homework, explaining math problems, etc. Long-term volunteers are needed.
Math Competitions
The club plans to participate in the following six competitions. For team competitions, teams of three to four students will be formed based on level and family preferences. The club may recommend team adjustments to keep the Blackwell teams competitive.
