Registration is open to all Blackwell students.

Read the Blackwell PTSA Enrichment Code of Conduct. A signed Code of Conduct is required at the first chess class.

About the Chess Program

Chess is excellent at teaching mental discipline,

focus, the ability to see all options, to compete under time pressure, to play fair, that mistakes have consequences, to not give up, and many more life lessons.

in person classes before school from 8:00am-9:10am on Mondays.

In the class students will do lessons, puzzles, games, and other activities with their peers. Sportsmanship is stressed throughout the class with a strong focus on critical thinking.

2023 - 2024 

October 2nd– May 20th (28 classes).

No Class:  12/18, 12/25, 1/1, 1/15, 2/19, 4/8.

Price: $400

Class Meets at Blackwell Elementary Library

Kindergarten Special Note

Kindergartners: To be ready for chess, your kindergartner should be able to do simple math and some reading and writing. I am offering an 8-week trial for $100 (for Kindergartners only). Email me if you would like to do the trial option or have any questions.
